Supporting the Children’s Village of the Kinderhilfe Philippinen e.V in Padre Burgos
Project Description
The municipality of Padre Burgos is located on the island Leyte, approximately 1100 kilometres southeast of the capital city Manila. It is home to approx. 7000 inhabitants. In 1986 the founder of the Kinderhilfe Philippinen e.V., Jürgen Schneidt, started building the Children’s Village in Padre Burgos. The Children’s Village provides a home to children that cannot stay with their parents for different reasons. There are currently 91 children living in 11 houses which have their own "House Mothers" who affectionately care for the children entrusted to them. They cook and eat together and the children regularly attend the schools in the vicinity.
Project Goals
Thanks to the support of the Lyoness Foundation, the basic needs of the children in the Children’s Village are met and regular school attendance is ensured. The acquisition of fabrics for the school uniforms, school bags and a daily snack will not only make it easier for the children to attend the school, but will also make it more enjoyable.
