Fly for kids: Children Flying Day in Hohenems
Project Description
In 2010, the Sightseeing Flight Team of the Hohenems Airfield organised the Children Flying Day for seriously ill and vulnerable children for the 10th time. In a proven collaboration with the aid organization Stunde des Herzens, the dream of flying could be made true for children supported by the social organisations Stiftung Jupident, Verein Sonnenblume, Kinderkrebshilfe, Caritas, Lebenshilfe, Huckepack4kids, SOS Kinderdorf and “Ein Netz für Kinder”.
The initiative “Fly for kids” was supported by eight airplane associations, four private plane owners and the passionate pilots of the Sightseeing Flight Team of the Hohenems Airfield. They not only dedicate themselves to flight procedures but also to the sponsoring of many flights.
In 2011, The Lyoness Child & Family Foundation supported this social initiative by providing an airplane with the Lyoness Child & Family Foundation brand in order to provide these children with a unique flying experience.
Project Goals
The goal of the „Fly for kids“ project is to provide an enjoyable sightseeing flight in a sports plane for ill and socially disadvantaged children and their families – main group of beneficiaries: children suffering from cancer – and to fulfil their wish of flying.
The doctors participating in “Fly for kids” talk about a “Flight Therapy” in which the numerous symptoms of the diseases and disabilities change for the better because of the special flight experience, at least for a certain time. The Child & Family Foundation supports this project in order to enable even more children to enjoy this unique experience of flying and also to positively influence the healing process.
