Racing For Charity
The ambassador of the Lyoness Child & Family Foundation
Extreme cyclist Christoph Strasser took not only the philosophy of Lyoness – "Together we are strong" – but also the charity idea of the Lyoness Child & Family Foundation (CFF) to the entire world at the Race Across America (RAAM) from 15th to 25th June 2011. The RAAM is the longest, toughest and probably the craziest cycle race in the world.
The route is 4,900 kilometres long, makes its way across 14 states and extends across the continent, from the West Coast (Oceanside, CA) to the East Coast (Annapolis, MD) of the USA. 30.000 metres in altitude need to be passed as well as temperature differences up to 45 degrees Celsius.
To win the RAAM and thereby support children in need – this was the big goal of the Austrian. Strengthened by tough training, months of preparations, a strong will and backed by a well-coordinated team Strasser won the race in an unbelievable record time of eight days, eight hours and six minutes!
After the legendary race, his winning bike and his original jersey were auctioned at the Lyoness Sensation in Budapest. The entire proceeds benefited social projects by the CFF.
This year again the title holder will be competing at the RAAM 2012 and we are already looking forward to an exciting race. We are, of course, again present via Facebook, Twitter and YouTube and share the excitement with Christoph Strasser.
